2021 Wrap-up

We made identification markers for a lot of the plants with the neighborhood kids so they could help keep the garden a mindful play and learning space.
Started Winecap mushrooms that didn’t surface this year but hopefully will in 2022. We did get a surprising amount of volunteer reshi, oyster and wood ear mushrooms in our wood and mulch piles.
We lost our third generation garlic and sage planted by friends that had moved away. Planted new Italian garlic, sage, rosemary, seaberry, sweet potatoes, common milkweed, anise, bergamot, basil, candela all in one garden. We are prepping the row garden to act as a micro-nursery for cultivating more starts to trade with more friends and neighbors. Remulched and redefined pathways through our food forest, had our first fish partners in our pond that we hope make it over winter. We bought a house next to one garden that we are transforming into a community kitchen and library. Feeling grateful and inspired for what the hoophouse, once finished will provide to our efforts.
